Louchie Vega: A Memoir
Erick “Louchie” Alcantar-Vega was a barber, musician, entrepreneur, and more. Louchie went by many names, such as The Mexican Mac, Silky Flaco, Paco, or The Mac.
Louchie Vega was born on July 22nd, 1990, in Michoacan, Mexico. In 2002, at the age of twelve, Louchie and his family moved to Tigard, Oregon. This is where he became “The Mexican Mac” that hip-hop fans and locals know, and love.

A veteran in the game, The Mac proudly served the Portland metro area with raps and his signature “Silky Fades” for years, solidifying himself as a key figure in the community as well as a role model for Chicano artists and young men in the Northwest.
Louchie was for the people; he advocated for peace and unity in his community. Whether there was a big or small injustice in the neighborhood, community, or world, he would be the first to make his voice heard and offer support in any way he could. Those who met Louchie can give a testament to the passion he had for his music, his people, and his business.
Louchie would like, share, encourage, and support any ventures of anyone around him, big or small. He never cared if it was noticed or reciprocated; he genuinely wanted to offer his support regardless. In the community of PNW Hip-hop, a genuine figure who wants to see everybody win is hard to come by. There will never be another Louchie Vega.

Paying homage to the Vallejo legend, Mac Dre, is a common theme throughout Louchie’s discography. During his trip to Oregon as a kid, he found a Mac Dre album in a motel room and immediately gravitated towards the Thizz/Hyphy movement and sound. This discovery is ultimately what kickstarted the journey of The Mexican Mac.
Louchie’s music had a classic West Coast sound with a Northwest and Latin twist that gave him his own unique style. In his early songs “Ready 4 tha funk” and “I’m Louchie Vega” to newer songs like “Silky Flaco”, “The Mexican Mac”, or “Crocodile Tears,” you can hear the Bay Area influence, but you can also hear Louchie’s clever lyrics, hunger, energy, and an overall passion for the art form of Hip-Hop.

Unfortunately, Louchie was a victim of gun violence and was killed on November 12, 2022, in front of the Dunes Motel in Hillsboro, Oregon. His tragic death put everybody on edge, as nobody expected such a positive figure to go out in that manner. This tragic and unexpected loss continues to be a huge shock to everyone who knew him.
Louchie leaves behind three children, a wife, and a loving family, but his spirit will undoubtedly live on through his music, friends, and everyone who loved “The Mexican Mac.” A spirit and energy as strong and impactful as his will never go away. Louchie was a unique and bright person with contagious energy. He loved everybody and wanted everybody to know it. The best way to honor his legacy is to continue to play his music, support his friends and family, and to talk about the great memories Louchie gave to everybody he came across.
